David Cianni - Aiken, SC / Born in Guatemala. Cianni has been creating life-size robotic cyborg-like sculptures from recycled materials which include lighting features. His complete collection will be exhibited at 701 Center for Contemporary Art at 701 Whaley Street, Columbia SC 29201. Visit the grand opening on March 29 from 7:00 p.m. to 9.00 p.m. Through his art Cianni wishes to convey the need to recycle, and inspire young and old to use and reuse our precious resources. He has started an art technique in which he blends components that are mechanical, these resemble bionic engineering, and they mimic nature’s organisms and are made of recycled materials. This he calls “M-BORA” ( Mechanical – Bionic - Organic – Recyclable – Art) He ties it into a story which he has written, the story “Basic Elements” goes to extremes on showing why we must take care of our planet and recycle.
